It’s lazy of me to cross-post material, but I was disappointed that a post I wrote over at the New Orleans Metblogs seems to have been utterly ignored. It’s short, and I think it’s worth reading (unless you loathe politics). The links are good too.

So, after the two State Senate elections this summer, almost 100,000 New Orleanians are now represented by legislators from Jefferson Parish.
That bodes well.
One of the newly elected Senators, Derrick Shepherd (D-Mawwewwoh), has wasted no time– and no pretense– in funneling state tax monies to his “associates” in Harvey.
In entertaining fashion, James Gill describes the pork opera, and Greg Peters depicts it.

I think “professional” “journalists” across the region are secretly rendered impotent (or should be) by the fact that an independent blogger and a cartoonist are beating their asses at their own game on a daily/weekly basis. No other local media seem to bring this sort of state-level shenanigans to my attention. The whole thing evokes tasty memories of Jon Stewart’s appearance on “Crossfire” (which bears repeated viewing: http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2652831?htv=12).
As for the issue itself, in my mind it’s already dissipated into the homogenous morass of status quo Louisiana politics only an alcoholic could love. What does a citizen do about this crap? Write a letter? I start law school classes in a week so I’ll post back the second I learn something.
Well, Well Well, Guess whaat ole Derrick “asswipe” Sheperd is up to now. He has found a new treasure chest to loot. The citizens of Kenner have got a new friend in Derrick. He and his co-horts Ceddie Floyd and Mark Johnson are set to rob HUD blind. They have found out about a diamond hidden in plain site. The poor incomp of a Mayor Muniz took the bait hook line and sinker. Already Derrick has garnered a quick $5k and access to all of the Authorities CDs and accounts just since January by doing underhanded deals and leading a fierce attack on the powers that be he even slipped his name on paperwork giving him complete access to all accounts without the boards knowledge. As a matter of fact he is leading the Kenner Housing Authority board members by the nose straight to jail with a carrot of $207per meeting per diem(having traveled nowhere but to the Authoirty to eat the food already provided and paid for by the Authority and then back home. What is so funny is once they face the firing range from HUD and OIG, in the end he will come out will a cool $250,000 thanks to his shrewd business contract. The Board is stacked in favor of Cedric Floyd(you remember Hurricaine Katrina Floyd) and the quick dealings of Mark Johnson with Mayor Muniz. Mark even got a new car out of the deal. As the Mayor swore in commissioners Mark acted quickly to get him to remove the newly sworn commissioners and put on his croanies a super ignorant elementary teacher and a drug peddling housing resident set on making life easier for her pharmacy business and that of her drugged out, alcoholic friends. Pollytrix in Kenner is about to rear its ugly head and Derrick is at the reigns
