Newsflash: Copeland’s on St. Charles Burning

Apr 12, 2006 by

Got woken up by sirens this morning to find that the deserted Copeland’s restaraunt on St Charles and Napoleon had a fire. Hardly surprising, it has been defunct with no sign of coming back to life since my return in Oct.

The smell and trash have been a continual problem since then, hardly unusual in the New New Orleans, but not a good thing in an area that is mostly back to life.

As of five minutes ago they were still trying to get it under control according to the Chief I spoke with, although no external flames were visible at the time (there was smoke however, from the rear of the roof)). I did also see firemen putting on new air tanks preparing to return to the interior of the building. Posted by Picasa

  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Will anyone ever make fry batter with shovelfuls of Cajun Magic seasoning again? Who will be there to sink a perfectly good piece of fish in recycled Sysco fryer oil and not serve it to me until it has safely returned to room temp?

Who will over-serve Crash and Burns to the little coeds now? We’ll have to bus them all the way down to the Quarter every time we wanna get laid.

Sir Lokes-A-Lot, as long as your pad’s OK, tell Uncle Al I’m out here weepin’ buckets over his loss.

  2. My new place is near Prytania and Napoleon. I guess now we’re practically neighbors, Loki.
