I have refrained from responding to the ongoing stupidity of the Team New Orleans group that are coming down to NOLA to rehash everyone else’s work. I will now offer my only comments.
They are not only a for profit venture, but also cannot even seem to use google to find out anything about the situation here. Read on and be wary of those who wish to manufacture celebrity from our misfortunes. Even if they do mean well they seem unable to use even basic internet resources for researching their mission. They are too stupid to be useful.

Although I’ve exchanged emails with Easton Ellsworth of NOLATruth and Know More Media, I’m going to leave this one alone for a while because I’m busy with work and Rising Tide and need time for their work here to sink in. If they do produce some good work here, I’ll highlight and link to them. If not, oh well. The proof is in the pudding, the truth is in the DOing. Time for them to do.
I get tired of the rest of the nation being condescending to us all the time, but that’s the way it is in this tunnel vision world we live in. While we all know that there are plenty of bubba’s down here and the truth of these reported atrocities probably lies somewhere between the email Chartreuse posted and what is really going on. The stories of the press being denied access to trailer residents has been well documented by a number of local bloggers. If the source he is protecting that works for FEMA has a problem with what FEMA is doing why doesn’t he blow the whistle that would be the American thing to do. As it is he claims to be working for an agency that practices fascism, Isn’t that kind of like working for Hitler. If he needs a job that bad tell him to come see me I can help him find something a little more ethical. While I know the cops beat up people, and FEMA is controlling the trailer camps I find the stories unbelievable in there current presentation.
Sorry the person isn’t described as working for fema but rather someone who “works in a position which allows her/him to see what’s going on across the state of Louisiana” Needless to say I satand by my point is he can’t come out and expose the problem then he is part of the problem.
Loki, I’ve been trying to explain what many have misunderstood about NewOrleansTruth.com. While Know More Media is a for-profit business, we are not attempting and will not attempt to make any money from NewOrleansTruth.com. The purpose of that site is to help New Orleans-area bloggers’ efforts to improve the human situation in that area by chronicling what Chartreuse is trying to find out and by discussing what many others already have found out and continue to find out.
I can’t speak for Chartreuse. The idea to send some people to New Orleans to talk to locals about their experiences was his idea. Know More Media is supporting him in his investigation because we want to see good come out of it.
I’ve exchanged emails with Maitri, who is a very intelligent and perceptive person. Maitri is right – the proof is in the pudding, the truth is in the DOing. Time for us to do – time for us to make NewOrleansTruth a useful source of truth about New Orleans and its surroundings. That’s what I’m off to help with now. If you or anyone else wants to offer their views at the site, please let us know.
Allow me to suggest first that attention is paid to our input. Drop the cash cow links in favor of things oriented towards positive change in New Orleans, link to one of our acclaimed local bloggers, or follow any of the suggestions made so far on a variety of threads. So far the actions and attitude, excepting your conciliatory emails, have reeked of carpetbagger.
We need every eye and voice that can be mustered, our home is on the chopping block. We do not need to be the vehicle for someone else’s profiteering. Hate to share this but Haliburton and Shaw Group already fill that spot in our local ecology.
Now, if you are still reading, I want to add that if there truly is honesty to this effort (jury still out on that) then it is highly appreciated. We have gotten screwed from day one on this situation, and anything that smacks of that will show you a, shall we say, intense reaction (as you have seen). What has stirred this up is the consistent refusal to adjust your mission, and presentation thereof, to be more in line with reality and less with marketing style hype.
This conversation has been going for at least a week now and I have yet to see a NOLABLogger in your links.
Prove Yourself. If you make it to the Geek Dinner I will personally ensure your safety. We are not savages, protohumans, australopithecines, or any other variety of primitive.
Ditch the Ego and DO. Prove yourself.
