Camellia Grill Returns!
Friday, April 20th 2007, the day the Camellia Grill returns to operation! You still cannot get a streetcar there, but as of the morrow Judg’s Chicken and Chocolate Cherry Freezes once again assume their places in the New Orleans lexicon. I may take a stab at going on saturday or sunday…
Finally something else important is back! This seems to happen far too infrequently…

Great news! I want to belly up to the counter and eat an omelette of ungodly dimensions.

Perhaps a blogger swarm should descend upon the grill, eh? I’ll be buried until after Jazz Fest, but it could be fun….

You are perfectly welcome to your opinion. I am perfectly welcome not to agree. It’s a tradition, and our traditions are in danger. Anything coming back is a good thing, and camellia Grill is a symbol in that regard.
Never thought of it as Uncle Tom, and from my own brief stint over there in the late eighties I do not remember any of the staff thinking that either. Still, I can see how it would be vieed that way by some.
Anyway, I am glad its back.

That is good news. I had just looked around on the web a few days ago to let some friends know what they should do when they get down there today but had seen stories of it being closed with rumors of it being bought but not reopening si I didn’t mention it. Very good to hear.

I’ll take an orange freeze, cheeseburger with grilled onions, and fries … makes me wish I were in New Orleans! This is getting me hungry!
Another one that’s re-opened is Tony Angello’s in Lakeview - absolutely fabulous, and worth the drive out to all y’all uptown and Quarter folk!
