The New Orleans BRAND??!!!!!!!
WHAT did he mean by that?!!!!
Now, I never minded the "chocolate city" remark; I thought all the hullabaloo over that remark was a tempest in a teapot -- or in a cup of hot chocolate, as it were. But... the new Orleans BRAND!!!!?????? Is that like the same brand that markets "Stop Snitchin' " t-shirts????? Is it like he wants to attract as many hardcore gangbangers as possible to live in New Orleans?
I thought it was pernicious enough, before, when I got the impression that he and other officials felt it was relatively o.k. to ignore "black-on-black" violence as long as it doesn't stop wealthy tourists from visiting the French Quarter, etc. But, in truth, MOST major cities seem to be very ineffective at bringing down homicide rates -- so why SHOULD anyone expect officials in New Orleans to be able to do any better, with the criminal justice system having fallen apart, with so many cases backed up, and so many other catastrophic problems facing the city. I mean, what's Boston's excuse for ITS homicide rate, for instance?...

Well, whaddya expect from a corporate executive? I mean, have you ever worked in a corporation? Had to deal with one? It's a twisted mindset.

Of course, it's also blasted hard to find a non-corporate candidate that seems halfway decent.

And it's not like most of the people that I know and would trust to run things would even go near the snake pit of public office and the gristmill of candidacy with a 10 foot pole.

Politics. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
