Find This Bastard: Local Shop Owner Injured In Hit And Run

Dave Gordon is the co-owner of Funrock’n, on Decatur Street, Bootsy’s Funrock’n, on Magazine Street, and Pop City, also on Decatur.
He and his business partner, Rhonda, have done a great deal for local culture, support of local businesses, and now feature a display area for local music and art at their newest location, Pop City, on Lower Decatur Street.
On Tuesday of this week, a gold colored sedan rounded the corner from St Claude on to Congress Street, hitting Dave, who was on the corner.
The driver stopped and got out, and after seeing Dave writhing in pain, with broken bones protruding from his leg, said, “I didn’t hit you” got back in his car and drove away from the scene, leaving Dave laying by the street.
Not only do I write this to support any effort made to help Dave Gordon make a report and file an insurance claim, but also because this ass wipe is out there riding through YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD next.
The tag number and description follow. PLEASE REPORT THIS VEHICLE as soon as you see it. The driver is described as a black male, 18 - 23 years old.

Please, any & all reading this, repost it anywhere and everywhere. Dave Gordon is looking at three to four months of recovery, nevermind the medical bills, which will certainly run to many thousands of dollars. This could be any one of us, our families, our parents, lovers, or children.
Print out the plate and tape it on your dash board.
Just call it it to 911 and give a location.
That’s all it’s gonna take.

I just spoke with a friend who spoke with Rhonda this morning.
David’s injuries are not life threatening. No serious head trauma or internal injuries.
The leg is very badly injured, though. He will not be able to walk on it for six months.
This is second hand information, but I trust the person who gave it to me.
If David doesn’t have insurance, there should probably be a fund set up to help out with the medical bills.

LD — David is tough, he’ll probably be ok. But you’re right — the vicitm could have been a kid, and then we’d be talking about a funeral. This guy really has to be caught.

Yes, sir. I know Dave & Rhonda very well.
Dave was left at roadside with bones sticking out of his leg, according to Rhonda and Colette.
Toughness doesn’t matter here. Any more then it did for my dear friend, Bill Moss (aka Billy Ding) when some idiot killed him with an SUV just before Jazz Fest.
We really need to catch and imprison this rotten bastard who not only hit Dave, but left him there, bleeding in the street. He’ll do it again.
A benefit for medical bills would be a great idea. Count me in. I think I can speak for many others, too, who would do all they can for the Funrockin Founder. Besides, have you ever tried saying ‘no’ to Rhonda?
I’m wondering if the local police have contacted Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to see who owns this car?
Let THEM try saying ‘no’ to Rhonda….

I only know Rhonda in passing. David was one of the first friends I made back in 95 when I landed here, and since I bailed out of Decatur Street a few years ago we’ve really only ran into each other now and then. But I’ll always consider him a friend.
Believe it or not, our pal “dark_law” has promised to make sure this case gets special attention. He mentioned something about taking the perp “out to the chemical shed” or something along those lines. Pretty sure he was kidding.
