Way to go. You actually made me tear up a bit.

In a place where so many things are wrong, and where the schools are in a shambles - why is it that I can go to the local blogs and regularly find essays and analyses that are better-written and more relevant than your average piece in The New Yorker or the Atlantic?

Josh Clark - or somebody - ought to anthologize this stuff so it can reach a wider audience. This piece would be right up there, Mark.

(And props to Loki, our electronic Maxwell Perkins, for giving this and so many other things a home.)

Archh!! See, I knew I would forget people and there would be hell to pay Greg comes to mind now (doh). In fact at some point I had a sentence on politics citing Mark and Greg and took it out meaning to put it back and-pow-it got lost. Sick blogging too early in the morning: not a good time for a final edit, but everyone else in house is more sick so it was quiet.
