As a witness to Jennifer@Green Tangerine Media’s reaction to the call I can say that, yes, she was suitably stunned, “Portland-style”. LOL. She’s a Colorado native (Denver suburb) and life in Portland really pacifies you into thinking the world is all about hugging and skipping through the park on a sunny day - so yeah, she was two parts freaked and two parts disbelief. It was rather amusing to watch actually. I’ve never seen a phone call here at Green Tangerine that has made Jennifer’s eyes quite so wide - she mouthed to me “What the f**k?” and then her eyes got wider still. I half expected Alan Funt to walk through the door (yes, I know that’s a bit improbable now that he’s long since passed).

Good times. Then you realize it’s all real and serious and you just do what you can to get the thing transfered and back up online. Jennifer did that in record time, kudos to her, but it’s the jaw dropped bluging eyeballs expression I’ll remember in years to come.

Hope the new web host works out for you. I have no idea about the history of this altercation (and probably don’t want one), but I’m glad Humid City is up and running.

I don’t do physical violence. Check that. I did do very physical violence during the first week of the flood, but am pretty much past at least blogging about it unless severely provoked. I do still talk to a therapist about twice a month.

Alcoholic violence is a different matter all together. It changes everything around it, whether drunk at the time or not.

This was at Ashley’s fucking WAKE, man. I thought I was doing him a favor because he was apparently about to get the living shit kicked out of him, but mostly I was trying to preserve peace because of the nature of the event.

So Alan has a history of being involved in physical violence at these gatherings. He’s the only one in this group, that I know of, that has such a history.

Violence amongst bloggers who used to be friends is bad enough. And that is bad no lie.
But, for you to attempt to use your public blog against your former friend, rather than trying to work it out with him in private, is what gall my ass.

I like Alan a lot and respect his work immensely. He has always been absolutely straight up with me. Such honesty as I have always seen in Alan I am not seeing here.

Why not?

When you feed trolls you’re giving them the internet equivalent of junk food. Instead of consuming a wide range of viewpoints, they become dependent on processed snark, rumor and other foods that are not part of their natural diet. This can make them very sick.

They may also lose their ability to forage for natural relationships and become dependent on message boards and the comment sections on many blogs. Trolls that expect to be fed by people can become aggressive, harassing people when they are hungry.

What about hand-feeding baby trolls?

Hand-fed trolls become a nuisance - you may start feeding one or two trolls but, within a short space of time, great flocks can descend. This can be a frightening experience especially for small children.

Trolls find it difficult to distinguish between your blog and the information in it. A troll bite or scratch is very painful and prone to infection as these animals are scavengers.

Never feed a troll.

@Bruce Biles/Editilla I’m going t allow your comments after all. I’m having fun watching you make an ass of yourself. I will ask one last time though- were you there? Have you spoken to anyone who was? Your comments seem to support physical violence, good for you. I do not.

Alan has walked a long road with this group. I have yet to find anywhere he is reciprocating your smear tactics. No one knows what you must have said to push a GIS tech geek to use his fists.
