Loki, et al, your description of hostility in Hattiesburg is exactly what we felt when forcibly contraflowed there during K. We were told in no uncertain terms that there was NO SHELTER in Hattiesburg and we also had to keep moving. We were trying to get to Mobile and thanks to our daughter mapping it via cell phone for us we managed to get off where we weren’t supposed to and take back roads. But your description of the hostility was the same we experienced and we were floored by it.
Glad you guys are getting some sleep. If power goes out we’ll be updating via twitter.

Keeping you all in my thoughts … get some rest, guys. Tell the kitties to hang in there.

Good god, that is ridiculous about the cops blocking roads, but I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.
My dad had some pretty bad stories about crap treatment he got in Houston when they evacuated for Katrina.
Take care and I hope the cats feel better soon.

Loki,
I’m linking from my place ’cause those deniers are out in force, like lovebugs, and I wanted to post your voice as well as my sister’s experiences.
Stay safe and take care, y’all.
