Glad you’re mobile! Still in the ‘Burgh for another week, then heading home to Kenner via Jackson, MS. (If there’s anything left.) Looks iffy on the Weather Channel. The eye is just scraping beneath Sawdust Bend and Redfish Bay, (4am NO time,) meaning that the Crescent City is on the wrong side this time around.
BUT…
Gustav has dropped to 115 mph winds and Category 3. I know this doesn’t sound like good news, but considering the 160 mph cat5 predictions of two days ago it’s a damn sight better. It looks as if Houma and Morgan City may be in more peril than New Orleans at this time depending on the strength of the new levees.
I hear Nagin promised a direct trip to Angola for looters. Ignoring the fact that he has no real say in where they eventually end up, will this include individuals using their city credit cards for gas, food and lodging to escape the storm?
I’ll check in later, gonna watch the “weather experts” mangle Palkamynes and Mario some more. (Not sure if the latter was intended to be Marerro or Meraux. C’est la vie!)
