Gus is now a 2, but refuses to come ashore. Like a spoiled teenager grinding along the edge of a porch, he seems to be more of a nuisance than a threat, so far. Across the Gulf, most damage seems to be confined to tree limbs and power lines. I’ve seen video from Biloxi, New Orleans, Houma, Violet, and Metairie and all looks well.

Winds are listed at 110mph, though the Crescent City is seeing sustained winds at less than 50mph. Gus is still moving at a steady 16mph, though he has shifted his path from NNW to WNW. There remains a possibility of flooding, but it appears Marie has answered the call and is keeping our city relatively safe.

Keep your spirits up and your expenses down!

According to the City Of Kenner website, there are widespread power outages and the KPD is operating on generator power. This should be no cause for alarm as these are the same industrial generators that were used for two weeks during Katrina.

Gustav appears to finally be coming ashore in Terrebone Bay and the strong northern eyewall will be heading toward Houma through Cocodrie, Dulac and Theriot. Forwarding the prayers to our neighbors to the west. Hunker down and stay dry!

Hey, just to give you an update. Rickey ended up staying. As of an hour ago, power was still on and the DirecTV was still working. So, for now at least, all looks good in our corner of the world.

Hey, Loki - hope you and ‘Lex have been able to get some rest. Much love to you both, and the kitties…stay strong, darlin’.
