We’re Voting for the N***er!

Oct 18, 2008 by

Wow. I am really stunned by this and do not have time to do any in depth analysis until I return to New Orleans in the begining of next week. I’m glad they’re voting for Obama and I am glad that this demographic is deserting the McCain Palin ticket, but still…..

Via FiveThirtyEight.com:

So a canvasser goes to a woman’s door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she’s planning to vote for. She isn’t sure, has to ask her husband who she’s voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, “We’re votin’ for the n***er!”

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly: “We’re voting for the n***er.”

In this economy, racism is officially a luxury. How is John McCain going to win if he can’t win those voters? John Murtha’s “racist” western Pennsylvania district, where this story takes place, is some of the roughest turf in the nation. But Barack Obama is on the ground and making inroads due to unusually strong organizing leadership.

Despite the fact that this seems like a bad joke it is actually a true story. Go read the original.

  1. I went and read this whole article, and, compiled with James David Mannings message of hate (see my previous post), I can only hope that this level of racism and prejudice is surfacing like pus in a boil, being squeezed out by in depth self analysis that this country is too long in actualizing.

We’ve had almost a decade of greed and corruption, swallowing lies so we could live with the horror spawned by our own leaders, and now the beast is biting us back.

We, as a Nation, it seems, can quickly become our own worst enemy. How must the world see us, in these days of cyber news, as these stories spread world wide?

    “I’m voting for the n**ger”
“A white woman who lays down with a black man is garbage”

How in hell can we go on telling the countries of the world that we are on their soil to promote fairness, democracy, human rights, when these are the promos we spit out into the public eye?

If extreme ideas are to be put forth by America, how about the one where we realize that there is enough food, technology, medicine & education to support THE ENTIRE WORLD?

That if we could get past this monstrous division that feeds on war and greed and death, that in two generations our planet could raise itself to levels undreamnt of by the wildest of imaginations…

  2. I thought “Blazing Saddles” for a second. Life imitating comic art, anyone?

Seriously, it’s crass and nasty, what was said. How, indeed, can we show our faces in other countries and dispel this sort of bigotry effectively?

  3. Rya

There are bigots in other countries.

  4. Good point, Rya.

Of course, that doesn’t make me proud.

None of those countries, by the way, are running around invading nations as the World Police, to my knowledge, and promoting themselves as the Greatest Nation On Earth, however.

Are you suggesting we should let it slide?
Or that America is such a racist country that we should just accept it?

  5. in the next couple weeks I’m putting out a video that will compliment this story PERFECTLY. :~)

  6. @FluxRostrum Let me know when it gos live.

@Rya yes, so? And this is pertinent to the discussion of our own nation’s racism how?

  7. Rya

Bigots don’t speak for you, me, or our country. How can we show our faces in other countries and dispel this sort of bigotry? Well, when you go to another country be your unbigoted self. They aren’t dumb and they probably suspect that we aren’t mostly bad, but rather have a government(like many of their own governments) that doesn’t necessarily reflect the beliefs of the whole country.

  8. @Rya Thanks! I really do appreciate the clarification, and I do wholeheartedly agree.

Please accept my apology for the terse seeming prior commet. I was in a massive rush and only now looking at it do I realize how abrupt it came off.

  9. @ Rya; while I agree with your last post unconditionally, perhaps some clarification of my own is in order.

When I said “We, as a Nation, it seems, can quickly become our own worst enemy” I meant it exactly that way.

My further remarks, “How in hell can we go on telling the countries of the world that we are on their soil to promote fairness, democracy, human rights, when these are the promos we spit out into the public eye…”, were intended with the same “we” in mind. All Americans, as a Nation.

The state of America has come to the point where we may have to prove ourselves not to be greedy, bigoted, selfish assholes, if we want to get along as individuals, even if it’s only by being “your unbigoted self”.

It’s easy for any and all of us to say, ‘well, it wasn’t me’, and move on. Perhaps this kind of public racism is to be expected as the first presidential candidate of color gets within shouting distance of the White House. That doesn’t mean is isn’t sad.

All the same, the freedom to be my “unbigoted self” comes with a price; responsibilty to my country, to make it a better place, to stand up for a belief system wherein my fellow Americans are not judged by skin color.

The ‘WE’ I spoke of was United States of America, not the cool kids who post at humid city alone.

When that ‘WE’ decides they don’t have to speak out publicly against this sort of hate and injustice, the battle for ongoing freedom is as good as lost.

  10. I’m at the point where I don’t give a good golly damn what they call him as long as they damn well motherfucking vote for him.

    Love you, dude.

  12. I shall not fear anyone on earth.
    I shall fear only God.
I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
I shall conquer untruth by truth.
And in resisting untruth I shall put up with all suffering.
