OK, a little corporate shilling here but trust me it’s for a good cause. Campbell’s Soups Chunky brand is having a contest and all you have to do is go there and vote. No signing up for e-adverts, or entering personal info. Why should you? It’s a Saints thing and you can vote every day. Again, why should you? To feed people!
Campbell’s is donating soup to NFL teams which they will distribute to local food banks. In our case this will be Second Harvest. 1,000 cans of soup will be donated to each team regardless of the voting outcome. The team receiving the most votes for the AFC and NFC get an additional 12,000 cans and the overall winner gets another 5,000 cans. This means if you lazy kids out there can click a button enough times for the Saints, you could help bring in 18,000 cans of soup to help feed people. And not watered down MRE soup, but so-chunky-you-could-eat-it-with-a-fork-but-use-a-spoon Chunky Soup!
The contest goes on through the end of the season when the four AFC and NFC teams with the most votes enter single elimination “playoffs” for three weeks to crown the overall winner. This means each of you reading this can add over seventy votes for the Saints from here on in! Just go to Chunky’s website and click the Vote Now button, then pick the Saints matchup and choose our home team. And hurry! As of this posting the Saints 5,042 votes are second to the Packers 8,971 this week. In the time it took me to type that and double check the numbers the Pack gained four votes and the Saints gained none, so get your fingers moving and help feed some people in New Orleans!
And don’t forget to blast this to everyone you know!
Thanks to local Kazoozie Floozie Debra Gunter for the heads-up on this!

Hmmm, ok, this is stranger than I thought. Apparently the weekly match-ups are actually like an office football pool. This week it’s us versus Carolina and we lead now 5044 to 4584. (This is good, two of you have voted!) I’m not quite over the Flu yet and my head is still addled so I’m not going to try to comprehend or explain the rules yet; the important thing is get out and vote!
Done! (for today, I’ll hit it again tomorrow or maybe from my work computer so that I can double dip in a day!)
thanks M.S. consider it done.
– may i steal your post for my blog??
feel better soon, and congrats on your Steelers beating those nasty
Vikings. wOOt!
Geaux Saints!
Absolutely! Steal away!
We must be doing something right as I’ve just checked the numbers and we have moved from 5044 to 6616! Now, I’m not saying that’s all Humidites… aww, the hell I ain’t! We rock!!
BTW, the Vikes were a bonus. we were gonna crush ‘em no matter what but I put a call in to Mike Tomlin, a dear, close friend of mine, and asked if he wouldn’t mind… :)
I’m in.
Awesome!
Yesterday:
Saints 5,042 – Carolina 4,584
Saints 8,073 – Carolina 4,609
In the last 24 hours Carolina has added 25 votes while the Saints have added over 3,000!! Green Bay continues to roll though and we gotta keep it up for those NFC and overall wins! Maitri, if we find out you’re voting for the Packers…
Keep up the good work Saints Fans and remember you can vote once every day!
Saints 10,293 – Carolina 4,625
BAH HA HA!!! The Saints’ points are SKUNKING ALL the other teams! :)
Saints 11,131 – Carolina 4,637
OK, I think I’ve figured out the deal. Judging by the points, I think most voters are under the impression that they’re trying to pick the actual winner of this weeks game, hence the very improportionate (?) scores of the Saints and GB. I won’t know how this works until the NFL wraps up and Chunky posts this weeks results but I think we just need to beat Carolinas’ votes which, barring a massive push today, we’ve done nicely.
In the overall NFC race, Green Bay continues to pose a problem as they’re 8-0 in the Chunky standings and Carolina is in second at 7-1. The Saints stand at 6-2. I looked over the previous weeks but they don’t show votes, just W/L. Apparently the Saints were out-voted in the first two games vs Detroit and Philly. (Which I still don’t get!)
For the AFC, Pittsburgh is tied with Jacksonville at 8-0. I may have to gove them a vote or two but rest assured most of my votes are going to New Orleans. In a similar vein, if the Saints votes are ahead next week, perhaps we should vote against whoever GB and Carolina are playing to try and swing a defeat for them.
Perhaps we can make the Chunky Bowl (or whatever it’s called) match the real Super Bowl with a contest between the Burgh and the Big Easy!
I’ll keep everyone in the know, or at least as confused as I am! Thanks for voting!
OK kids, I hope you’re all clicking! We have overtaken Carolina and are second only to the Packers. They’ve been consistently getting over 10K votes and we’re barely breaking that mark. Click ’til your fingers bleed!
OK, I’ve just blasted this to representatives of ABC 26, the Times Picayune, WWL, WDSU, FOX 8, and Gambit. Hopefully we’ll see some action!
