In the days after Katrina and the levee failure local blogs were a lifeline. As the news organizations frantically ran around engaging in histrionics NOLA Bloggers gave reports from the disaster zone, analyzed media mis-representations, and shared the personal stories of our citizenry as they waded through the water.
Now you too can be a blogger, it’s not that hard. Tonight Rising Tide [Transparency: I'm on the board] is hosting our first non conference event, a crash course on the basics of blogging.

The Rising Tide Conference presents “Blogging 101: An Introduction to Blogging for the Utter Novice”
Everybody’s talking about blogging, but nobody ever does anything about it. Until now.
The good people who bring you the annual Rising Tide Conference are sponsoring a free workshop to introduce blogger neophytes to the blogsphere Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Bridge Lounge from 6:30 to 8:30. Participants are invited to bring their laptops and get ready to blog!
Experienced NOLA Bloggers will instruct on all the basics, including an overview of the available free blogging services, a lesson on how to set up your own blog and some tips on getting your blog noticed. Whether you know a little or a lot, instructors will be on hand to help you get the most of your blogging experience.

The title of this post could possibly be interpreted to mean this event is a tutorial on both learning to blog, and learning to drink beer.
No worries, though. In case anyone shows up expecting the latter, I will be on hand to assist.
