Meet The Team
HumidCity has been proud to provide a virtual megaphone for numerous NOLA Bloggers over the years. The current regular team is comprised of the following:
George “Loki” Williams, Founder and Curator A pro blogger and owner of SocialGumbo, LLC, Loki is all over the place online. The best place to find out more about this transplanted New Orleanian, now living in Northside Cincinnati, is through his Google Profile. If you’d like a third party view then try this Mercatus Center article. Loki is one of the organizers, and the MC, of the Rising Tide Conference in New Orleans. He is also the founder and administrator of HumidCity and its sister site CincyVoices. He blogs about HBO’s Treme on the Back of Town Blog with a variety of other NOLA Bloggers. He has been featured or interviewed by the BBC, Air America, Tun3r, NOLA.com and many others. A founding member of the Krewe of Chartreuse, he is the Krewe’s Minister of Volume and one of its three Sanctus Custodis Viridus. He is a lifetime member of The Skull Club, and is slowly introducing Ohio to Pimms Cups and jambalaya. |
M Styborski has lived in the New Orleans area since 1977 and has been a professional Drain on Society since 1999. He is the former lead singer and keyboardist for Final Academy, one of New Orleans most original (and most obscure) Eighties alternative bands. A Charter Member of the Krewe of Chartreuse, he is the Krewes’ Minister of Heresy and one of its’ three Sanctus Custodis Viridus.
He currently masquerades as a photographer with a sideline in blogging. His first book, the lower ninth: K+36 is available at Blurb. He accepts donations of all sorts, though he prefers cash, liquor and rare Mardi Gras doubloons. |
Jack “Monkeyboy” Ware first began his blog, monkeywithabutcherknife.com, on April 15th 2005 with the words: “I sleep like a caveman caught in the ice. Arms and legs every which way, head all twisted and an expression of confused amusement; this is when I’m most relaxed.” Later that year Jack began writing for New Orleans Metroblog. Retired since late 2007, Jack lurked around the dark, digital alleys of the intenet until the formation of The Zombie Jesus Jamboree in 2009. And with that, he stepped fully back into the glowing red eye of the internet’s annonymous opinion machine… |
Liprap is otherwise known as Leigh C. She blogs on a weekly basis on Humid City and most frequently at Liprap’s Lament. After a six-year stint as a glassworker and a flirtation with cantorial school that would have set her on the path to becoming a member of the Jewish clergy, she became a 24/7/365 mom in 2002. After four years in New York City, Liprap moved back to New Orleans six months after 8/29/05 and was inspired to start blogging about the city for her friends back in NYC. It took a while, but she hooked up with the rest of the New Orleans blogpocheh (blogging family) a year after she moved back and is now in over her head helping organize the Rising Tide Blogger Conferences atop raising her son, working part-time at various jobs, reading anything and everything offline and on, writing about everything offline and on, and living a secular Jewish life. She and her husband, her son, her cat and her dog reside in the Lower Garden District. If you’re not careful, she’ll go all Yiddishe mama on your asses. |
In addition there are the HumidCity Irregulars. People with posting access to the site who are not regular contributors. Among those currently in this number are Mark Folse, adrastos, BigEZBear, Greg Peters, Rex from NOLArising, G-Bitch, and Seide.
