It would seem that Harry Lee will not be running for another term when election time rolls around again, he passed away this morning, losing his ongoing battle with leukemia at 75.
Just got off the phone with an old friend who I have not seen since way before the Storm. We did not talk long, but long enough. Hearing the tale of how his mother died during the night of The Storm and then had her body lost for weeks was like a punch to the solar plexus. Horror movies have nothing on the plight of our friends and family members. One year later and the tragedies continue to mount. It is, quite simply, heart rending. No wonder I have the shakes.
Jane Axtell Williams, my grandmother, passed away last night. I will probably be offline for several days dealing with family arrangements for the funeral. Please go visit the other NOLA Bloggers in the links bar for news and opinion in the meantime.
At least she passed away here in the city she loved.
