Saturday Super Events!

July 25th, 2008 by Loki

Saturday is it! A huge date on the calendar during which Rising Tide, Dirty Cost Press and the Big Easy Rollergirls Present:

FYYFF It’s Black and Gold Forever
A Fund-raiser for the Ashley Morris Memorial Foundation

FYYFF- It's Black and Gold Forever

Featuring:
The Big Easy Roller Girls, The Other Planets , Simon Lott, Helen Gillet, Justin Peake , Diamond Kinkade, Fleur de Tease “Nude Is Nice” performance, Supa Saint, Art for sale/auction/raffle by NOLA Rising, T Shirts and gear from Defend New Orleans and illustrious services of emcee Andrew Ward - The Reverend Pysch Ward, who was last seen at O’Dark Thirty in the morning kicking off the NOLA Running of the Bulls.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

You see the fine folks at NOLA Rising have agreed to re-purpose their art party earlier in the day into creating fresh art for the evening to help raise funds. Come by, grab a paintbrush and join in the fun. Ashley Morris loved this city and its community more than words can express. Come and BE a part of that community.

When? Saturday, July 26th, from noon until sunset. Yep, the dog days of summer. No one said living in New Orleans during the summer is nice.

Where? XO Studios in the Marigny. 2833 Dauphine at the corner of Press (right where the train tracks are)

Why? Why not? We love our community, we love to paint, we love to be a part of something that is uniquely New Orleans. You don’t have to be an artist to come and join us. In fact, most of the best talents we’ve discovered had never even picked up a brush in their entire life.

(Proceeds from the raffle and the auction as well as the T-Shirts will be donated by the Morris family to the Ashley Morris Memorial Foundation which will be used to present FYYFF Awards at later dates.)

Please share this message through your MySpace Bulletins, email lists, and blogs. Be part of the community!

Zachary Wright

Ten year old Zachary Wright, New Orleans born and raised, was diagnosed with Osteochondromatosis, a rare bone disease. He has courageously endured five successful operations to correct ongoing abnormal bone growth (Thank You, Shriners!!),and is currently gearing up for another round this summer and fall to get him out of his wheelchair, walking, biking and running again…

Meanwhile, there are important expenses not covered by insurance that his mother, Donna, would so appreciate your help meeting. For example: Zach’s writing hand is failing. He is a straight A student at the International School of Louisiana, and an Alpha Smart Keypad will really help him keep up with his class next year. Also, the back-log in settling disability cases is much greater in New Orleans since Katrina. The work missed by Zach’s mom while she cares for him is income lost.

Because getting Zachary well again should be their only concern, his friends are holding a fundraiser. We hope you can come enjoy yourselves and make this special event successful for this very special little boy!

The 3 “Leaders” in NOLA, Bush’s Trojan Taco, the North American Union and RFID Chips…

April 21st, 2008 by NOGoddess

To follow up on Loki’s post about our not so favored visitors these next couple of days, I’d like to delve in a bit further, into that uncomfortable territory of what’s really going on behind the scenes - you know, the things that make the sheeple and even many thinking Americans start shouting “conspiracy theory.” Unfortunately, we’ve been getting duped for a long long time, long enough that there’s finally tangible proof of what’s been worked on for the last 60 years or so. Sadly, I fear the proof will do little good, that the wool has been so firmly pulled over our eyes that it’s simply too late to undo what’s been done. Words I hate to hear myself say, as I’ve always considered myself an activist and done what I’ve could to fight the fights I’ve thought needed fighting, always optimistic that we still stood some kind of chance of fighting the power’s that be. Only, it turns out that the power’s that be are little more than figureheads doing the bidding of some much more secrete entities on whose radar our activist antics don’t even register as even the tiniest of blips.

So what the hell am I talking about?

Check out this video for an overview of the real forces that have been working behind the scenes for so long and lovely new tracking devices coming soon to, well, you:

OK, I can’t figure out how to get a youtube video embedded in this here WordPress blog (despite much google research) so if anyone can clue me in, please do. In the meantime, here’s a straight up link to the video.
Fun stuff, eh?

Help Suspect Device

November 15th, 2006 by Loki

In case you didn’t hear, our very own Suspect Device, Greg Peters, is about to undergo open heart surgery. He is one of our best and brightest, acidic and observant both on the net and in print. In order to continue to produce during his convalescence he is in rather urgent need of a new laptop. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is one of the local voices we cannot afford to lose. Please help lend a hand by making a small donation, if enough of us do then we can get him the tools he will need. From what I gather we are almost halfway there already, and that in less than a day!

Need proof of why this man needs a laptop? read this(pdf)

Make your donations here.
