Quote Du Jour
June 3rd, 2008 by LokiYou know, um…I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.

We Should All Remember>>>
September 9th, 2007 by LokiIf a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way.

Quote of the Day
May 26th, 2007 by LokiIf you burn a book, any book, you will see no demons flying out of it, hear no shrieks of devils torn loose from their mystical bonds (unless you are on something really intense, in which case I would recommend that you get of it soon and see a doctor). If you burn a book, all you’ve managed to do is destroy something of value, something someone else worked very hard at creating so that others could be entertained or enlightened or educated.
Now whose the monster in that situation.

Message in a bottle
June 29th, 2006 by LokiI saw this in my friend Dave Martin’s home when we were assessing the damage and getting him a quote on some reconstruction work. The fact that it is one of the only things remaining (there are no walls there at the moment) and is still legible despite the Katrina Funk ™ ensured that I would have to throw it up on the web.
I think that it really does communicate what each “ordinary, compromising day,” in the New New Orleans is like…….
