For those who are unaware I blog for the Open Society Institute on the Webby Award winning website Katrina: An UnNatural Disaster. I do not often tout my posts there on HumidCity but today I am making an exception.
One of the projects partially funded by a Fellowship from OSI is a little film you might have heard of: Trouble The Water. Late yesterday evening I received word that it has been shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary.
Full Details are in my post for the day over there. Please stop by and shcademy are your thoughts!

As some of you may have noticed I have not been posting much lately. That is because I am in NYC on assignment and have been for over a week. I’ve been helping produce a steaming / podcast radio station for Advertising Week in the Big Apple and it has been no where near as boring as that sounds.
I’ve had the opprotunity to interview a lot of movers and shakers ranging from Chef Emeril to Geraldo Rivera over that time but the one I’d like to share with you is the podcast I did with Michaela Angela Davis. Soime of you know her as one of the driving forces behind Vibe Magazine. Some may know her from her series of workshops on female empowerment at our own Essence Music Fest. Some may know her for her work with Prince.
In the few minutes she kindly took from her busy schedule we spoke about New Orleans and about the film Trouble the Water. Since I am the blogger for Katrina: an UnNatural Disaster (an OSI site and webby award winner for 2008) and the film was made by one of our OSI Fellows I was thrilled with her choice of topic.
Give it a listen here.
