And you may find yourself in another part of the world…

A Personal Update

The past few days have been quite interesting. Lex and I are both getting some work, she in Manhattan and I as the, “amazing one handed painter,” so we are not completely treading water. I also got things straightened out with the Post Office today and claimed our mail. Got an oustanding paycheck from my job and a big box . Many thanks to Chris and Woody for the big box of Halloween stuff, we will raise a toast to y’all when we crack that bottle of mead! Alexis has already put out the spiderweb decor and it now feels a lot less like a “camp.”

I am starting to work with WWOZ, helping locate music industry people from back home as well as gathering articles and photos for the website. If you have anything you wouldm like to submit email it to me at george.willims.iv (at) gmail.com I also am looking for similar content here on Humid City.

Last night we went to the city, a friend of our host’s was having a birthday party at Fat Black Pussycat and had demanded our prescence. They greeted us with overwhelming kindness and endless rounds of drinks. It was really nice to have a night out, its been a month now we deserved it. I was reminded in no uncertain terms that I am indeed a flatlander by the cab ride back to Dobbs Ferry. It was like being on a roller coaster for an hour. Shauna and Josh gave lie to the concept that hospitality is a southern thing only. Dyed in the wool New Yorkers, they actaully got us to chill out. Many thanks guys, you are too kind!

The folk’s at Ricci’s Deli across the street really rocked our world today. I went in this morning, hung over from our evening in Manhattan, only to be handed a compilation disc of New Orleans music. Evidently they had chipped in amongst the staff to get it and provide us with a taste of home. Anthony, Louis, Christy, Mike etc. y’all rock! It was so nice sitting around listening to Dr. John while tidying up this morning!

We are still keeping close tabs on events back In NOLA. Podcasts from our agents on the ground should start appearing soon. In the meantimewe continue our misadventures in NY, hoping to return by Halloween.

It is increasingly surreal, I think Terry Gilliam had a hand in this plotline…..

Finally after all these years I fully understand those all too familiar words of David Byne’s:

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
Wife
And you may ask yourself-well…how did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was…same as it ever was…same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…same as it ever was…same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…same as it ever was…

Water dissolving…and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? …am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
My god!…what have I done?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was…same as it ever was…same as it ever was…
