Human Error? The Levees? Nah…..
The science journal Nature did a piece that should hold no surprises for New Orleanians, the levees failed due to human error and possible malfeasance. (http://www.nature.com/news/2005/051031/full/051031-9.html)
The levee board have always been viewed as comical supervillains by the locals, but Katrina has exposed the true tragedy that corruption has wrought. Between that and the consistently swindling federal resources for maintaining them its no wonder that Lakeview, the Lower 9 and many other areas now look like the Forbidden Zone from Planet of the Apes…
