They will be performing the spaying/neutering at the mobile SPCA center on Opelousas in Algiers Point (entrance on Opelousas, not on Thayer for this) this Thursday, May 18th and Sunday May 21st. They open at 7:30AM and will be there until 5:00PM. This is a trap and drop off operation. They will be spayed/neutered, given vaccinations and given ear tags.

The spay/neuter and vaccination services are provided at no cost by ACA. Several local animal welfare organizations, veterinary clinics and individual caregivers are working with ACA to provide volunteers, for coordinaton, trapping, clinic assistance and administration. For information to volunteer or for help getting cats fixed, call Alley Cat Allies at (601) 749-5084 or email [email protected] They will send you comprehensive information on how to trap the cats. To report a feral cat colony location, call Animal Rescue New Orleans at (504) 485-3671.

If you need traps, the SPCA can loan them to you. They have extended the drive beyond Sunday but not exactly sure what other dates are in town. Diane at Alley Cats or Maya at the SPCA should be able to give you the new schedule.
