Less than a week after New Orleans Police Chief Warren Riley said the city had seen fewer murders thanks to police initiatives, authorities said Friday they were investigating the eighth murder of 2007.According to Officer Sabrina Richardson, an NOPD spokesperson, the murder took place around 7:20 a.m. in the 7400 block of Pitt Street in Uptown. Second District officers responding to a burglary call found an unidentified African-American woman shot in the head inside her home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the case to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111. You do not have to give your name and could be eligible for a cash reward of $2,500.
