NOPD Baits the Homeless for Felony Convictions

Jul 14, 2008 by

By placing a can of beans, a beer and some cigarettes on the dashboard of an open car, the NOPD leaves bait for homeless people near by, and charges them with felony burglary, which carries a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

While petty theft is no laughing matter, a stake-out, and the pure mean spirit of targeting those who have nothing, is a huge waste of police resources and taxpayers monies, especially in a city realing from the impact of violent street crime.

Read Richard Webster’s story about in New Orleans City Business.
Thanks to Nola Rising for bringing this to my attention.
