That’s Right, Sign That Petition!

I’d first like to thank Loki for allowing me to parade on his website here.

Not to be redundant, but I’d like to piggyback on Liprap’s post today in all caps:

GO SIGN THE PETITION TO EXTEND THE PUBLIC COMMENTS DEADLINE ON THE DANGEROUS SCHOOL FACILITIES MASTER PLAN!!!!!

All the cool kids are doing it, including, so far, two candidates for the new New Orleans Parish School Board.

As it stands, the lame-duck school board still plans to have a vote on this in October, though many inexplicably indicated that they are not yet familiar with the plan. The other body that has to approve the master plan is the State board of education, the members of whom are not accountable to Orleans Parish voters. The representative from our neighboring parish, James Garvey, this week has been quoted in the news refusing to reject a eugenics bill being considered by his white supremacist friend, State Rep. John LaBruzzo.

This petition will accomplish its intended goal, to extend the public comments deadline until the new school board is elected AND seated, but only with the support of those that share concerns about the future of our public school institutions in New Orleans.

For more background, check out my totally awesome website We Could Be Famous and this post that lists some basic truths about the school facilities master plan.

I look forward to gracing you with my presence again very very soon.
