The Dinglerization of America
Ladies and Gentlemen, Brothers and Sisters, Miscreants, Reprobates and Degenerates alike, I address you now as my friends and equals and a thoroughly qualified, talentless hack. Some months ago, the Dinglerization of America was born here on Humid City after some other webrat tried to trash my already not-so-good name. I applauded him the way you would applaud a tenor clearing his throat. Despite that and despite that I had originally pin-pointed the wrong guy for such a blasphemous attempt, he did deliver me a name for my art show that was too good not to laugh at.
Thus, my long-awaited art show and the only one I agreed to do for the year, had it’s name. My little demon seed took on a personality of its own and brought into the world an additional body of artwork, a video, t-shirts and even stickers. We’ve had a lot of fun with it here at NoLA Rising World Headquarters and now we’d like the share that enjoyment with you with this shameless self-promotion:
This Saturday, November 7th, from 6-10 p.m., you are cordially invited to The Dinglerization of America at Coup D’Oeil Art Consortium at 2033 Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. We’ve arranged a full spread of entertainment as it is an art show and Rex’s annual birthday celebration, from the lovely Bella Blue of the Fleur de Tease Burlesque Troop to DJ Stress (wrought from the old State Palace days). If that’s not enough, the talented Crista Rock has done a video of the same title along with Melissa Levine doing an interactive food installation (that means you can eat it).
And if you are expecting my usual miscreant scribblings on a wall, you’ll be slightly surprised that I’ve stepped up my game just a touch. Officially, this is what was said:
The pieces for the show are a departure from the mediums that Mr. Dingler has used in the past and is a marked change in style and form. His use of oil is an organic approach that combines elemental designs with detailed pattern scratching to reveal the concealed under-painting. The patterns scratched into the cityscapes reveal the unique individuality and architecture of the buildings, while indicating the personal symbology of the artist. Each painting has alternating patterns that hold symbols, words and cryptic messages.
That seems like a lot of fancy balderdash for a guy like me. Having said all that gooble-dee-gook, I hope to see y’all out there. Come and pass a good time for my birthday. Further details below,
