You Posted What Now?
I get those little RNC newsletters in the mail now and then. I had to give an e-mail address to the Secret Service if I wanted press access to John McCain II: Kenner Boogaloo a few years back. Thing is, they apparently gave it to their marketing department. Now I’m constantly bombarded with “thanks to you” and “without your help” kudos for every little Republican victory. C’est la vie…
Up to now, most of RNC Chairman Mihael Steele’s missives have been a tad cranky. Understandable since the Republicans are losing ground to both the Democrats and the Tea Party kids. His last letter, however, was nothing short of crazy-guy-that-thinks-the-aliens-are-probing-him. Here we go…
Dear Michael,The outpouring of support from Republican grassroots leaders like you has been extraordinary. In a little over 36 hours after Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats rammed their government takeover of health care down the American people’s throats, the Republican National Committee has almost tripled our original goal of raising $402,010 to Fire Nancy Pelosi.
I’m grateful for your help, but we’re not done yet. At 11:15 this morning, President Obama signed into law the Pelosi Health Care Takeover. This abomination means low-quality health care, higher taxes, and a declining standard of living for all Americans.
In response to President Obama signing this monstrous bill, the RNC is extending the Fire Pelosi Money Bombfor an extra 24 hours — that’s 24 more hours to ensure our Party has the resources needed to defeat 40 Democrat Representatives and bring Nancy Pelosi’s iron-fisted reign to an end.
If you haven’t donated yet, please go to GOP.comright now and make a secure online donation of $40 or more to help the RNC fire Nancy Pelosi and her liberal allies in Congress. If you have already made a donation, I ask that you forward this messageon to at least five of your friends, family and/or colleagues who are sick and tired of the Democrats ignoring the will of the people and urge them to support the RNC’s money bombtoday.
Michael, this is a fight for the future of our nation — and it’s a fight Republicans must win. Your help is vital to fire Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the U.S. House. Donate to the RNC’s money bombnow. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Michael Steele
Chairman, Republican National CommitteeP.S. Michael, thanks to the generous outpouring of support from concerned citizens like you across the country, the RNC is extending our money bomb by another 24 hours. Please go to GOP.comright now to make a secure online gift of $40 or more to help elect 40 Republicans to the U.S. House and ensure our Party has the resources to Fire Nancy Pelosi! Thank you.
Steele salts his rant with scare-tactic words like rammed, abomination, takeover, higher taxes, lower quality in standard of living, but there’s more to be read here. There’s a manic quality to this that can’t be overlooked.
First, he thanks me for being a “grassroots leader” which I’m not, then thanks me for all my help but in the next paragraph asks me to please help. Huh? I thought you thought I already had! Time for someone to pick up the Chicago Manual of Style! Then there’s that wacky post-script which does nothing but restate the same crap in the first few paragraphs in a more succinct way. What’s up with that?
Most devilish of all is the way Steele, or his ghost-writer, obfuscates government procedure for some of our less-than-savvy citizens. Fire Pelosi. I’ll bet that one word garnered more money for this underhanded campaign than any other word in that letter. At least from those dimwitted souls who think a Speaker of the House can actually be fired.
Brilliant strategy or dumb-luck ranting? I wanted to know so I dropped in on the Democratic Party website to see if they had a reaction. There’s none that I can find. Then I looked at the Republican Party website to see if there was more ranting or if this was just Steele going off the deep end. Guess what?
Now I’ve been in the Graphic Arts for some time and I know enough to know that everyone has different tastes, but holy poop-on-a-stick! Did the RNC really approve this? And that’s the front page of their site!! Not only is it childish but the image of Pelosi burning in Hell is incredibly offensive! (Yes, I get the pun: Fire Pelosi. Trouble is, I’m smart and I see the intended symbolism too.) Great day in the morning people, this makes the Tea Party kids look positively sane! I must say I can’t blame them for turning their backs on their high ideals and quitting to start over fresh!
I initially thought it would take about sixteen years for the Tea Party to gain any real momentum but from the delusional, shambling, National-Enquirer-State-of-Mind the Republicans seem to be in it may only take eight! Wouldn’t Lincoln be proud!
