Hostilidays – A Long Distance Salvo

Dec 17, 2010 by

It is that time of year again. The time when anomie gets the better of those of us who blog in and about NOLA. It’s been hard for me to write here, as you’ve probably noticed, I’ve just felt so removed since life forced a northwards move upon us. Not out of touch, but as though by not being in the middle of it anymore robs me of the right. Intellectually I know this to be untrue, but still…

Now you should live in fear. That time is over. Let this, my first salvo in the annual Hostilidays [The annual evil xmas video war] herald my return to regular posting. Many thanks to my number two, Liprap, and to Jack Ware for keeping the boat afloat while I’ve been off my game.

And now, for your grinchy pleasure I’d like to present Warner Herzog reading A Night Before Xmas. Deal with it.

NOTE: For those of you unfamiliar with our warped ways keep in mind that it is reflexive to embrace black humor and satire when you live with the specter of tropical weather.

Here is a sampling of the video war from last year. It all started when the NOLA Bloggers’ malaka du jour, adrastos fired the first shot from his perch over on First Draft. Being a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft I fired back here on HumidCity, and then Maitri joined the fray. Then Mark “Fountain Walker” Folse tried to be more civilized about things. It was all downhill from there.
