Candlelight Vigil for Shane Fell, Missing Since Friday, June 17

A candlelight vigil will be held today  at 8:00 p.m. in Harvey, in honor of missing person Shane Michael Fell. Friends and family will gather together to share hope and to keep Shane’s story in the spotlight. (NOTE: This is not a memorial service.)Shane, 36, has been missing since June 10, 2011. He was involved in asingle-car accident and has not been seen since.
Attendees of the candlelight vigil should meet at the levee near the accidentsite, at the intersection of River Road and Marrero Road.
Please park vehicles on Marrero Road instead of the levee.Shortly after midnight on Friday morning, Shane’s car flipped on a notoriously treacherous curve in River Road where many other accidents have previously occurred. Shane escaped the vehicle through the passenger-side window. Shortly thereafter, he answered a cell phone call from his brother, Brett. Shane did not indicate any injuries at the time and was alert and coherent.
Brett arrived on the scene within 20 minutes, but Shane was no longer at the site. Shane is a native of Gretna, Louisiana, and a resident of Harvey, Louisiana.He is employed as a Senior Technical Writer for VeriFone. He is an alumnusof the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he studied metalwork and jewelry.
He had recently returned home to the New Orleans area after spending a few years in Savannah, Georgia. Shane is desperately missed byhis friends and family, including 5-year-old niece Lily and 3-year-old nephew Logan, who are both very dear to him. Anyone with information about Shane’s location is asked to call the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office at 504-364-5300. A reward is being offered by the family for information that leads to finding Shane.
