The Scorseses: Ska / Not Ska
When I covered VooDoo fest this year I discovered a local band I had been unaware of: The Scorseses. Take some funk groove, a ladle of prog rock rock, an injection of ska, intelligent lyrics, and an uncompromising attitude – blend vigorously and pour into an oversize shotglass and you’ve got an approximation of their sound.
I was so impressed with the set they played that I decided to chase them down for an interview. Don’t just take my word for it though, check out this excerpt from their set that day (it really starts to kick ass at about the ten minute mark, FYI):
There, now that you have a taste of what they bring to the stage let’s dive into the interview!

The Scorseses will be one of the bands playing tomorrow night at the NOLA Polar Express Benefit show at The Publiq House on Freret St. Check out some local music and help out abused kids for whom the holiday season is not the best. How could you go wrong?
