Tabby Thomas, R.I.P.
I went to LSU in the 1980’s and hated most things about Baton Rouge. One of my favorite places there was Tabby’s Blues Box. It was a funky, sweaty, smokey hole in the wall in downtown Red Stick that was a great place to hear some down home swamp blues. Its proprietor and main performing artist, Tabby Thomas died yesterday at the age of 84. He was a helluva blues belter and a warm and generous host. He’ll be missed.
